As the name implies, Gildong Bokjori Market is a place where merchants and visitors can feel truly blessed.
It has been a famous traditional market since the 1970s thanks to its convenient location near Gildong Station (Line 5) with approximately 10,000 visitors every day.
Every store in the market has a little ‘Bokjori', a small traditional ladle-shaped strainer known to bring blessings, and notes of the wishes of the merchants.
This came from the well-known Korean custom of hanging a bokjori in front of your door hoping that the year will be full of blessings.
What this custom signifies is that every time you visit Gildong Bokjori Market, you will receive an abundance of blessings.
