Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) ran a campaign to collect signatures of citizens to resume the Amsa Green Road development project targeting citizens participating in ' The 24th Pre-Historic Culture Festival of Gangdong held from the 11th to the 13th. As a result of the campaign, the district was able to meet the goal of obtaining 100 thousand signatures.

The Amsa Green Road signature campaign that was first launched in April achieved its initial goal of 100 thousand signatures in only 6 months. It indicates that a quarter of the entire population of Gangdong-gu participated in the campaign.

The successful collection of signatures means the district will now connect the Seoul Amsa-dong Site that is currently segregated by Olympic-daero to Hangang River through a continuous green space, increasing accessibility to Hangang River. This will also involve restoring the historic value of the Seoul Amsa-dong Site, which is the largest Neolithic site in Korea, to attempt its registration as a World Heritage Site.

On the 1st, the district met Park Won-soon, the Mayor of Seoul, to inform the mayor that a consensus among the citizens has formed regarding the Seoul Amsa-dong Site's registration as the World Heritage Site, and so on. Along with the information, the district strongly urged recommencement of the Amsa Green Road development project based on the project feasibility study of the Seoul Amsa-dong Site and the surrounding areas. As a result, the district was able to receive a positive response that the Mayor of Seoul will actively seek a review of the project expansion.

Currently, the Prehistoric Dwelling Site in Amsa-dong has a prehistoric museum and offers a prehistoric experience class. However, since most traces of life in the prehistoric period are still buried underground, this limits the potential to highlight the historic significance of the 6000-year-old prehistoric site. Accordingly, Gangdong-gu is planning to develop Amsa Green Road that connects the site to Hangang River, transforming it into one of Seoul's popular destinations so that citizens could visit the site more frequently.

Lee Jung-hun, the Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "I am so happy that the goal of 100 thousand signatures that felt so unattainable was achieved during the prehistoric culture festival. Our goal is to make Amsa Green Road a place where history and natural environment coexist, and a place where not only Gangdong residents, but also all of Seoul citizens can enjoy."

Meanwhile, the Amsa Green Road development project was initially commenced in 2011 by Seoul City, however, it was permanently put on hold due to the poor economic value of the project and lack of civic support.
