No matter how much the technology advanced, many people from every class -the aged or the young, male or female, riches or poors- love reading books. They go to library frequently to borrow books easily and share interesting ideas on their reading activities. There are 38 libraries for residents in Gangdong province, 4 of which are consolidated under management of ward office (Seongnae, Amsa, Haegong, and Gangil), and 34 are small libraries including 12 privates. If you're registered in Seoul, working in Seoul, or attending school in Seoul, and some special cases admitted by library director, you can get a membership card with only 1000 won. Having the membership card, you can borrow 5 books for two weeks and take advantage of libraries' various programs at any consolidated library. Libraries offer not only many interesting programs about books (such as voting for the best book of the year), but also for residents' education (English speaking class, debate club, etc.). Also, they afford free computer using and studying rooms for library users. And one of the most attractive points of these libraries is that they have specific feature on their facility and location. For example, Haegong library is right beside Cheonho park with beautiful music fountain, and relaxing sight. So you can borrow books at the library and read books in the peaceful park. After today's daily work, how about visiting a beaut library in Gangdong and try discovering some lovely books. |
