Gangdong-gu asks how senior citizens living alone are doing through a milk delivery service!

- "Milk Regards Project" in collaboration with a private organization starts on Mon, May 3

- Agreement ceremony held to establish mutual cooperation system to execute project

Gangdong-gu Office (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) will be operating the "Milk Regards Project" in collaboration with the private organization, Milk Regards, starting Mon, the 3rd of this month.

The Milk Regards Project is executed together with a private organization in order to prevent the solitary deaths of low-income senior citizens who live alone. This is realized by paying a visit and checking on them when milk starts to accumulate at the delivery points.

On Mon, May 3, Gangdong-gu Office held an agreement ceremony to establish a mutual cooperation system to execute the Milk Regards Project. The project will not only prevent the solitary deaths of senior citizens living alone, but also provide them with lactose-free milk to help them take care of their health.

The regular sponsors of the milk delivery program are Baemin (Woowa Brothers), Goldman Sachs, and Maeil Diaries. The milk is delivered to 150 socially vulnerable elderly residents living by themselves three times a week through the delivery network of Maeil Dairies.

When the milk that was delivered on the previous day remains at the pick-up point the next day, an exclusive customer center that is operated by the private organization, Milk Regards, calls the local community center to promptly check the status of safety of the senior citizen.

Lee Jung-hun, Mayor of Gangdong-gu Office, said, “I am truly grateful for the organizations sponsoring the project for the socially vulnerable senior citizens who living alone. We will keep an eye on the both the elderly residents’ health and safety to proactively prevent the solitary deaths of senior citizens.”
