Gangdong-gu, headed by Mayor Lee Jung-hun, launched the Mobile Mayor’s Office to actualize the administration’s goal of A Happy Gangdong at the Self-Learning Center on September 7.

Having begun during the 7th popular elections, the Mobile Mayor’s Office involves the mayor personally visiting the people to learn about the various administrative demands of the residents. He will listen to suggestions from the residents about culture, education, social welfare, local enterprise, residential groups, and other fields, to establish a platform of communication while sympathizing with their long-cherished desires and needs.

The Mobile Mayor’s Office will be in operation for a minimum of 30 sessions in which the Mayor will visit the residents to gather their perspective on several issues. Programs for each target audience are currently in the works, including Neighborhood chief for a day, Meeting with elders, Inspiring dreams, Into the traditional market, Neighborhood tok-tok, Looking after safety, to name a few.

The first Mobile Mayor’s Office began on September 7 with 22 Needs Call counselors who tended to the mental and physical health of Gangdong-gu students while freely sharing their thoughts with Mayor, in person, on counseling students at school.

On September 11, the second Mobile Mayor’s Office opened at the Sangil-dong Gangdong Bike Center. The Mayor listened to the aspirations of children participating in bicycle classes and conversed with residents of the Charity Bicycle League.

The Mayor listened attentively to the residents’ stories and provided an immediate response while informing relevant divisions to take control of necessary matters pertaining to each locality.

Mayor Lee Jung-hun stated, “The basic principle of the administration is that the answer can be found at the actual site, making the listening of residents’ opinions directly so vital to finding that answer. We will continue to meet residents in various fields to enable a sustained line of communication.”
