Gangdong-gu, headed by Mayor Lee Jung-hun, revealed on the plans on August 22 for the conducting of research for organizational efficiency in preparation for an increased population of 500,000 residents over the next 10 years. Gangdong-gu is facing a point of crucial change since its founding in 1979. With reconstruction to be completed in 2022, Gangdong-gu is expected to reach a population of over 540,000 and seeks to attract more residents with the construction of the Godeok Commercial Multicomplex and the Gangdong General Commercial Complex (knowledge-based multi-complex). A change for expansion of the basic facilities with the increasing population and access by all residents is necessary along with the transformation needed to create a more inclusive city that offers equal benefits. Gangdong-gu began research preparations for organizational efficiency to prepare for the happy future of Gangdong with a system that can respond to the varied and complicated administrative demands of residents. Main research contents include, the analysis of changes in administrative demand inside and outside Gangdong-gu, the formation of organizational population structure improvement of organizational function and population balance, and the improvement of business efficiency and organizational culture. Mayor Lee Jung-hun expressed, “Gangdong-gu is experiencing a change in its societal structure to becoming that of a large city with a population of 540,000, as well as an economically-independent city in the eastern metropolitan area.” He went on to say, “We aim to create a Gangdong-gu with an efficient organizational structure and a competitiveness that enables the happiness and satisfaction of workers and residents alike.” |
