Following the 7th local elections and mayoral inauguration, Mayor Lee Jung-hun of Gangdong-gu will personally visit 17 dong community service centers for 9 days from July 16 to 26 to hold the “Talk Talk Open Discussion”. This will be a time for communication and consensus between major occupational association representatives and citizens.

 The new mayor will first make a round of the government office building upon arrival at the Gangdong-gu government office building and take the time to encourage employees there.

 The “Talk Talk Open Discussion” to take place thereafter will progress in the order of 1) major district business report, 2) new and repeated requests and 3) direct visits.

 The ‘dong business report’ will brief the 2018 business plans and the state of promotion for a moving dong community service center with pending businesses.

During the ‘time for renewed request for trust’, the new mayor of the 7th local election will meet with major groups and citizens of each district. Citizens will be given the opportunity to communicate their hopes for the new mayor and give suggestions about pending matters for local development

The ‘direct visit’ includes visits to elderly citizens who live alone or families in crisis who were discovered through the “moving dong community service center project” in addition to visits of major welfare facilities by district.

 This discussion meeting will differ from the existing method in that the scale and format will both be simplified to allow a time for careful and attentive communication to citizens’ wishes and a time of governance. The mayor will visit disadvantaged families and welfare facilities following the discussion to hear the voices of citizens in person. He is scheduled to visit families in crisis at the Gangil River Park in Gangil-dong on the first day.

Mayor Lee Jung-hun stated, “As significant as it is that this will be my first meeting with residents after election to office, this will be an opportunity to reconfirm promises with residents and reaffirm my own promises,” and “I will remain close to the residents to listen to their opinions and actively reflect them in policies.”
