Gangdong-gu (Mayor: Lee Hae-sik) will step forward to install and repair non-adhesive boards to prevent illegal advertising to create pleasant streets. It will invest a budget of 50 million won to install a total of 521 non-adhesive boards by June.

Putting an end to flyers and posters that are indiscreetly put on traffic light posts, streetlamps and utility poles has proved difficult in spite of continuous regulation, and traces of these forms of advertisement remain even after maintenance, harming the city’s appearance. However, the installation of non-adhesive boards with a special surface will be able to prevent the illegal posting of advertisements.

Non-adhesive boards will be installed at △ a section for new installation (Seongnae 2(i)-dong backside road), a location about which there are frequent civil complaints; △ sections requiring maintenance (Olympic-ro (Pungnap Sageori~Seonsa Sageori), Yangjae-daero (Gil-dong Sageori~Seoul Institute of Technology & Education)) that have deteriorated following installation ten years prior; and △ a publicity section (Seungryong’s House, Jangmi Village) of the district that combines business with publicity.

An official commented, “We plan to clean up illegally transferred advertisements through the expanded installation of non-adhesive boards and maintenance,” and “We will take the lead in creating a clean city environment and establishing the proper form of advertisement culture through continuous maintenance.”
