From Job Counseling to Health Care! The Changing District Community Service Center$-Gangdong-gu community service center to increase citizen convenience with living-friendly service space-The district provides nurses, lawyers, accountants, licensed real estate agents and vocational counselors for citizen convenience

30-04-2018

The Gangdong-gu (Mayor: Lee Hae-sik) community service center is changing daily. From nurses who reside in the Healthy Age 100 Counseling Center to consultation windows with community lawyers and community accountants, as well as the newly added vocational counseling and community licensed real estate services, the district is expanding services for the convenience of citizens.

There is a ‘THE CENTER FOR A LONG HEALTHY LIFE’ in each district in Gangdong-gu. There are nurses residing in each center to look after the health of citizens in managing their high blood pressure, diabetes and metabolic syndrome, as well as providing consultation on nutrition, exercise, oral health and smoking cessation and conducting dementia screening tests. Citizens can bring medical examination results for detailed consultation. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and anyone over the age of twenty can visit to receive consultation. For inquiries, contact the community service center or the Health Care Division (☎02-3425-6800).

For citizens wanting consultation about civil affairs, domestic affairs, criminal cases and other legal issues, they can visit the community service center’s ‘community lawyer.’ The community lawyer offers appropriate solutions for citizens with legal matters. Hours of consultation differ per community service center and those wanting consultation must call the community service center to make an appointment before making a visit.

In cases where citizens operating independent enterprises or small and medium businesses experience disadvantages due to a lack of expert knowledge about taxes, they can request aid from the ‘community accountant.’ The community accountant will provide information about filing an objection, requesting an inspection, making an appeal of dissatisfaction and filling out forms. Counseling is limited to those with local taxes of less than 10 million won in tax liabilities. Citizens wanting counseling may apply through the district website after checking the appropriate community accountant office. For inquiries, contact the office of Taxation Division 1 (☎02-3425-5502).

The ‘community licensed real estate agent’ that has been in operation from April 2 offers counseling about deposit returns, repair expenses and minor real estate issues that occur in everyday life. There are real estate agents in seven areas: Seongnae 1(il)-dong, Seongnae 2(i)-dong, Dunchon-dong, Cheonho 1(il)-dong, Cheonho 2(i)-dong, Gil-dong and Amsa-dong. Citizens can visit the district website for more information. For inquiries, contact the Real Estate Information Division (☎02-3425-6230).

Job counseling is also available at the community service centers. Gangil-dong, Amsa 1(il)-dong and the Gil-dong community service centers began operation of job support windows with residing ‘vocational counselors’ last March. Counselors use the Seoul Job Plus Center system to connect citizens with employment and recruitment services fit to each individual’s qualifications. Inquiries can be made to each community center.

Beginning May 1, issuance of medical reports, hepatitis B core antibody tests and health center certificates will be available at the community service centers. In the past, citizens were only allowed issuances of certificates upon a second visit to the health center five days after an examination but from May, citizens will be able to receive issuances of the aforementioned documents at the community service centers. For inquiries, contact the Health Administration Division (☎02-3425-6653).

Mayor Lee Hae-sik stated, “We ask for the interest and participation of citizens in the community service centers that are becoming living-friendly cultural spaces that support citizen convenience from health care to consultation for legal matters, taxes, jobs and real estate.”
