Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival』Awarded “Korea Consumer Awards” for Three Consecutive Years$- Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival, with a deep history as Seoul’s only prehistoric culture festival- Primitive exploration street parade and other various creative programs popular among citizens

 Gangdong-gu (Mayor: Lee Hae-sik) and its representative festival ‘Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival’ was awarded in the Consumer Administration category of the “2018 Korea Consumer Awards” on the 27th, for three consecutive years, and demonstrated the excellence of the festival. 

 The ‘Korea Consumer Awards’ has been discovering enterprises and institutions with competitiveness, credibility, and public benefit in eight categories, comprised of promotion of consumer rights and interests, consumer brand and consumer administration for securement, and promotion of consumer rights and interests since 2013.

 The Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival, first held in 1996, celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. As the only prehistoric culture festival in Seoul, its distinct identity and various creative programs attract over 400,000 people each year, and has settled in as the greatest festival in the region with a high percentage of visiting tourists. 

 Last year, the festival was awarded the “Pinnacle Awards” sponsored by the International Festivals & Events Association for four consecutive years to establish its place as a world renowned and representative Korean festival that truly lives up to its name.

 Mayor Lee Hae-sik stated, “As a national brand festival where spectators can enjoy the history and culture of the prehistoric age, Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival will continue to grow and maintain its status.”

 The 23rd Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival will be held this October at the Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong, Seoul. The district plans to offer various programs such as the primitive exploration street parade with over 1,500 participating residents, a prehistoric food experience, a special exhibition of excavated remains in Amsa-dong, and ceramics for visitors to recognize the significance of remains in Amsa-dong, Seoul while altogether enjoying the prehistoric culture.
