From Abandoned Pet Adoption to Information About Pets, Available on the Website!$-Gangdong-gu’s official abandoned animals adoption center website open!-Provides current state of adoption of abandoned pets. Q&A for information about pets, applications for Reborn Center volunteer work

23-02-2018

Last year, Gangdong-gu (Mayor: Lee Hae-sik) opened the very first abandoned pet adoption center “Reborn” (hereinafter Reborn Center) run by the country’s local government, and in addition, launched the official website (http://reborncenter.org) to allow users to be able to share more comprehensive and quicker information about recently abandoned pets.

The existing animal welfare blog <Gangdong-gu Rooftop Story> was renewed and combined·reorganized as the <Reborn Center Website>.

The Reborn Center website is organized into six categories: ▲Center Introduction ▲Abandoned Pet Adoption ▲Volunteering ▲Training ▲Community and ▲Reference.

Through the website, users can explore the adoption process as well as current states of in-house abandoned pets that are sheltered in the Center. The website also provides a place to ask questions about pets and behavioral training before and after adoption, and share information that will aid others in forming a happy companionship with their animal.

Not only that, but residents who wish to volunteer in the Reborn Center through activities such as “playground cleaning” where the abandoned pets play, “playground keeper” where they play with the pets, “pet center cleaning,” and “practical training center cleaning,” can apply through the website.

Meanwhile, the Gangdong-gu Reborn Center is receiving great interest through the gradual increase of followers on social media channels that are operated alongside the website for the encouragement of abandoned pet adoption.

An official of Gangdong-gu stated, “We plan to effectively run the Reborn Center website by providing helpful content and continuous updates,” and “we hope to create a mature pet culture where pets and their families, as well as people who do not have pets, can understand each other and harmoniously coexist, and also improve prejudices against abandoned pets.”
