Gangdong-gu (Mayor: Lee Hae-sik) has created an integrated solution with regards to agricultural/aquatic/livestock product safety management for in-demand holiday products, as well as for price stabilization, due to concerns over the increase in service prices brought on by the recent minimum wage increase, upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, and PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
 
Gangdong-gu has designated the period from January 15 to March 18 as a “Special Period for Setting Price Stabilization Measures” and will begin high-priority inspections through the “All-Source Situation Room for Price Measures” (☎02-3425-5852) within the Employment Economy Division.

The district plans to establish a healthy distribution system by conducting guided inspections on country of origin displays for ancestral rites, gifts, and agricultural/aquatic products, as well as on health control, collection examinations, and livestock product traceability for businesses dealing with livestock. It also plans to investigate the price labeling system so that consumers can purchase products for Lunar New Year's without having to be concerned about prices.

The supply/demand situation and price trends for certain holiday products (19 items including apples, pears, beef, etc.) will be examined and managed. In addition, a price management department will be assembled to conduct guided inspections on businesses that make unreasonable price increases for holiday products, and active measures will be taken to promote price stabilization during the Lunar New Year holiday by conducting focused inspections on unfair trade practices.

A Gangdong-gu official said, "We will make an effort to reduce the increased economic burden on households caused by the sharp rise in prices through our price stabilization management plan."
