Kimchi Made with Love, Taking Care of Even Emotional Health $ Gangdong Saemaul Women's Association holds kimchi-making sharing of love event at Gangdong-gu Community Center on the 14th

13-11-2017

On the 14th, Gangdong-gu revealed that they will be holding the kimchi-making sharing of love event organized by the Gangdong Saemaul Women's Association (President: Han Sang-rim).

As many as 170 people including women's association members of 18 neighbors in Gangdong-gu, including the women's association president, will be attending the kimchi-making sharing of love event, which is planned to be held for two days beginning with the advance preparations on the afternoon of the 13th to the 14th in the parking lot of Gangdong-gu Community Center. In particular, participants expected to attend are marriage migrant women who formed a 'mother-daughter' relationship through the relationship between the women's association president and marriage migrant women for the strong support of migrant women who were married in June, to help them settle comfortably in Korean society.

The Gangdong Saemaul Women's Association has made 2,000 heads of kimchi this year and plans to deliver a 10kg box of kimchi per household to about 200 households, including residents who need help with winter kimchi-making, recommended by the Gangdong-gu Community Center such as seniors who live alone or welfare facilities that are in need.

The Gangdong Saemaul Women's Association is working on a diverse range of projects in addition to the kimchi-making sharing of love such as making side dishes for seniors living alone, supporting multi-cultural families, sharing rice cakes of love as well as the 'starting ceremony for hope childbirth service', which was held in late-October to overcome the low fertility rate issue.

President Han Sang-rim said, "There are still many people around us who need help and winter is particularly known to be a more lonely and difficult season for these people. It is a small gesture of sharing, but we hope that these small presents could make our neighbors in need feel warm."

A Gangdong-gu official said, "We thank the Saemaul Women's Association for holding the kimchi-making sharing event each year for our neighbors in need despite the cold weather. Gangdong-gu will also take care of our neighbors in need in the cold winter so that they may be able to spend a warmer winter."
