As the chair of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership, Gangdong-gu is taking health into account as its top priority among all policies, and is seeking various health-friendly policies for realizing a sustainable healthy community.

Gangdong-gu disclosed that they have concluded an agreement for realizing healthy apartments with the Olympic Park Hanyang Sujain Apartment to improve the health of the apartment residents and construct a sustainable healthy community, and that they are working on the project for making healthy apartments.

The "Making a Healthy Apartment" project is an integrated health promotion project that supports various health promotion programs at health centers incorporating the health demands of the residents so that apartment residents can practice healthy lifestyles on their own. In this project, the apartment residents create a community organization and investigate the health problems of their apartment to come up with an agenda. They utilize local resources to resolve health issues, and the health center supports these activities of the community organization.

In August, the Olympic Park Hanyang Sujain Apartment conducted a survey on the health demands of apartment residents, and held a "Special Lecture on Making a Healthy Apartment" under the theme of communication through happy relations with laughter on October 26 by incorporating the survey findings, which received a positive response from the apartment residents.

In addition, every Thursday at 10am, the residents of the apartment complex gather to walk together and on the weekends, a weekend family playground for children and families to play at is operated and supervised by the designated apartment health guide. The families spend memorable moments playing giant jenga, balloon badminton, pitching target, ladder toss, hula hoop, jump rope and kicking shuttlecock game.

A Gangdong-gu official said that they plan to expand their work about the making healthy apartments project using Olympic Park Hanyang Sujain Apartment as the starting point.
