Gangdong-gu Trains Professional Pet Trainers$Establishment of a Foundation for Proper Pet Culture

10-10-2017

Gangdong-gu, which has been operating the 'Gangdong School (Seodanggae)' to resolve the social conflicts caused by the problematic behavior of pets, is focusing on fostering professional pet trainers starting from November.

The lack of knowledge on how to raise pets and a general lack of information constitute a majority of the social conflicts such as noise or pet etiquette that arise due to the increase in the number of pets. In addition, the lack of training centers for pets makes it difficult for pet owners who feel the need for training to access them because of the high cost of training.

Gangdong-gu intends to train professionals, develop the necessary human resources and help pet owners obtain the information and help they need more easily. In addition, trainees who acquire a certification after completing the program will receive an opportunity to become an assistant lecturer at the Gangdong School and culture class of the education institute run by Gangdong-gu in connection with practical employment.

The training course for pet trainers is a 6-month course that will be held 3 times a week from November 2017 to April 2018. After a basic course of 2 months, the trainees will enter an in-depth course of their choice for a greater educational effect.

The application period will be from October 10 (Tue.) ~ Oct. 24 (Tue.), 2017. A total of 20 trainees will be accepted and any person over 18 years of age and wishes to work or do business in the pet industry may apply (excluding those who are currently employed). Further information can be found on the Gangdong-gu Office website.
