Gangdong-gu received the excellence award at「National Local Governments Job Creation Award」and 90 million KRW incentive from the Ministry of Employment and Labor on Monday the 24th.

「The National Local Governments Job Creation Award」 is an award ceremony organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to commend local governments that have met its goals for job creation and employment that had been announced by the head of the government body after evaluating the performance of the 244 local governments in Korea. The evaluation criteria include systematic approach, determination of the head of the local government, specialty of the team, achievement level and creativity.

Gangdong-gu reorganized the growth strategy planning team and social and economic division. The district also enacted the basic ordinance of the youth and the ordinance on the creation of youth employment last year to lay the groundwork for job creation policies and built cooperation governance for private, public, and university collaboration.

The district developed ‘Youth Market,’ ‘Youth Night Market,’ and ‘Angel Workshop’ to support young job seekers to be self-reliant using local resources and promoted special projects that are suitable for Gangdong-gu to create jobs for the disabled and encourage urban agriculture.

Furthermore, the district has been engaging in multi-faceted efforts to lower the unemployment rate and revitalize the sluggish local economy by matching 100 businesses with job seekers in the district, organizing ‘job fairs,’ and creating a ‘three business complex.’

A Gangdong-gu official shared an acceptance speech and said, “This is the result of the effort all employees, businesses, and local residents of Gangdong-gu put together for job creation,” and added, “We will continue to do our utmost to create sustainable and quality jobs that match the characteristics of the district.”
