Subject Gangdong-gu, free “metabolic syndrome” screening for residents over the age of 20

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 10th that it will provide free metabolic syndrome screening and health counseling services to local residents aged 20 or older at the Cheonho Health Center, which opened in November last year.

Adult diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia supposed to be occurred in older people mostly, are increasing in a high speed among young people in their 20s and 30s due to poor eating habits and lack of exercise.

Due to the prolonged COVID-19, the need for health care has increased as external activities have decreased and delivery food (such as junk food) consumption has increased.

Metabolic syndrome tests are free of charge for Gangdong-gu residents over the age of 20. It operates on a reservation basis and conducts blood tests, blood pressure, and obesity tests.

If risk factors are found, doctors, nurses, nutritionists, exercise preions, and dental hygienists will provide personalized management services for each person.

For metabolic syndrome tests, fast for more than 8 hours, make a phone reservation at the Cheonho Health Center, and visit the health care center.

Intensive counseling, exercise, and nutrition classes are also operated to help manage metabolic syndrome, which is expected to contribute to improving the health of local residents.

Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office, said, "To prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19, we will be able to provide health services to the underprivileged who were in the blind spot of health service benefits by carrying out the health center project."
