Subject Ganagdong-Gu Finishes Japanese&Korean Teen Culture Exchange Project in Success

Mayor Lee Jung Hun of Gangdong-Gu stated that the cultural exchange project between Korean and Japanese teenagers held online for seven days ended in success. Although international interactions became difficult to handle by the global pandemic situation, Gangdong-Gu has been keeping on interchanging with friendly cities globally by changing the means of interaction into ontact(online+untact) ways.
In 1997, Gangdong-Gu signed a friendly agreement with Masashino, Japan, and has been building international friendships by making exchange students take homestays in each other's cities since 2005. This year, Japanese and Korean students met via ZOOM online service, just like how Chinese and Korean students went through an exchange program last year. On the opening ceremony that was held on the 17th of January, 11 students from Gangdong, 14 students from Musashino, and related people from each city gathered online. Mayor Lee Jung Hun started off with his opening welcome speech, followed by the mayor of Musashino's speech, and later the program progressed by each student's self-introductions and group interactions. During the seven days of the program, the students from each country experienced various activities such as having online meetings, cultural exchange, group activities, and presentations, having a momentous time to interact with each other without being limited by location or time.
Mayor Lee Jung Hun expressed his interest and pride in the special program by claiming, "I hope the students from the two nations got a chance to communicate freely by this program. We will further work to grow international communication skills and global synergy of the local students."
