Construction is in full swing in Gangdong-gu, located in the southeastern part of the capital city of Seoul, and on a large site facing the Han River. It is Godeok Biz Valley, where not only corporate offices but also complex shopping malls and public offices will be built. More than 150 companies will move into Godeok Biz Valley, which will be built on land as large as Yeouido Park, one after another from 2022. Gangdong-gu, which has had a strong image of a bed town, will be reborn as a self-sufficient city where production and consumption take place together. When the complex is completed, 110,000 economically active people and 20 trillion won in economic inducement effects will be created. Then, young people in Gangdong, who had left for the city center and Gangnam to find a job, and women whose careers have been cut off will now find new jobs in Gangdong, produce, consume, and make a big change as a self-sufficient city. Urban maintenance projects in Gangdong-gu are also actively underway. In particular, projects in Cheonho-dong and Seongnae-dong reorganization promotion districts are speeding up. By 2024, 40-story residential and commercial complexes will be lined up in District 3, District 5, and District 1 of Cheonho. Gangdong-gu expects the Cheonho-daero area to be reborn as a central commercial area. The reconstruction of Dunchon Jugong, built on 620,000 square meters of land and 88 soccer fields, will affect the population of Gangdong-gu as well as the local economy. In the second half of 2023, this place will be transformed into a 12,000-generation complex. If Dunchon reconstruction apartments are moved in, Gangdong-gu's population will reach 540,000, which will be symbolic and have a positive impact on the Gangdong economy. Currently, in Gangdong-gu, subway lines 5, 8, and 9 are being extended at the same time, and construction of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway is underway. Gangdong-gu will now be reborn as an important economic and transportation city in the eastern part of the metropolitan area. Gangdong-gu, which used to be considered the outskirts of Seoul, is now transforming into the center of eastern Seoul. |
