Subject "Seoul Station Area Revitalization Project"

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, is actively introducing the "Seoul Station Area Revitalization Project" to create various facilities for local residents. The Seoul Metropolitan Government's project to revitalize the station area is to build local necessary facilities so that citizens who use public transportation can conveniently access public rental facilities and living service facilities.

Since 2019, the district has implemented services to develop station areas with lower development density than other regions, and has prepared management plans for each station area. First of all, 489 Dunchon-dong, which was selected as the first stage of the project in May last year, will change its use area from a type 3 general residential area to a neighborhood commercial area to promote residential, modern, and public high-density development with 6 basement floors and 20 ground floors.

The 19-1 area in Seongnae-dong has also changed its use area from Class 3 general residential area and neighborhood commercial area to general commercial area. An urban maintenance redevelopment project will be carried out here, which combines housing, sales, business, and public work with seven basement floors and 44 ground floors.

The district also applied for 428-5 Seongnae-dong as a target site for the station area revitalization project, which has been expanded since the second half of this year, and was finally selected after screening by the selection committee in September. In this area, the use area will also be changed from a Class 3 general residential area to a neighborhood commercial area to promote residential, modern, and public high-density complex development. It plans to actively introduce convenient facilities for residents that can encompass visitors to Dunchon Station's traditional market, residents of Seongnae 3-dong, and residents of Dunchon Reconstruction Apartment.

Gangdong-gu mayor Lee Jung hun said, "The project to revitalize the station area is a good model that can quickly develop old and low-use station areas while improving public services. We will actively apply to the Seoul Metropolitan Government in the second half of this year."
