Subject Gangdong-gu abolished the standards for those obligated to support and established a living safety net for single-person households

<Gangdong-gu abolished the standards for those obligated to support and established a living safety net for single-person households>
:Resolving welfare blind spots by abolishing the standards for those obligated to support basic living security living benefits / installing and supporting safety nets for single-person households

[From October, the standard for those who are obligated to support basic living security and livelihood benefits is abolished]
Since October, the standard for those obligated to support basic living security living benefits has been abolished. In order to receive livelihood benefits under the existing basic living security system, we applied only when it was judged that there was no support obligation (parents, children) or no support obligation even if there was a support obligation. As a result, many of the households applying for basic living security were unable to receive support due to the criteria for support obligations even if they were actually suffering from economic difficulties, but from October, they will be able to receive support for living expenses only. However, exceptions are made when the annual income of parents or children exceeds 100 million won or 900 million won in property. Those eligible for livelihood benefits are less than 30% of median income (KRW 548,000 per person), and those who wish to apply can visit the community service center at their address. For more information, visit the website of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the welfare portal Welfare, and for phone inquiries, contact the Ministry of Health and Welfare's counseling center (129 without a national number), the district social welfare department (02-3425-5700), and the local community center.

[Safety door guards installed, supported, and deployed a safety village sheriff]
Gangdong-gu is striving to establish a safety net for single-person households vulnerable to crime. Various projects are being carried out to create a safe residential environment, such as supporting the installation of "safety door guards" to 110 single-person households in the jurisdiction and hiring "safe village sheriffs." The "Safety Door Guard" is a door camera that has a built-in motion detection sensor that allows you to check the situation in front of the front door in real time, and has ▲ visitor detection and notification ▲ two-way voice conversation ▲ entrance verification function. In addition, in the event of an emergency, if you press the emergency bell, you will be dispatched quickly from a security company at the shortest distance.
Subject to the application are 110 single-person households living in rental houses in Gangdong-gu, aged 18 or older, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis on the Gangdong-gu Office website. Users can use the service for only 1,000 won per month with 8,900 won in subsidies for the first year, and for the next two years, they only have to pay 9,900 won, about half of the market price, every month.
In addition, the Safe Village Sheriff will be hired to resolve residents' anxiety about safety and deployed from October 18 in Cheonho 2-dong, where single-person households are concentrated. The Safe Village Sheriff works five days a week to prevent crime and respond to various safety through night patrols from 21:00 to 2:30 the next day.
