Gangdong-gu, (Mayor Lee Jung-hun) announced on the 15th that it recorded the lowest suicide rate since 2017. According to data from the National Statistical Office at the end of September, the number of suicide deaths in Gangdong-gu was 21.7 per 100,000, lower than the national average of 25.7 and the Seoul average of 22.7. It ranked 15th among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, a significant decrease from the 4th place in 2019, and also recorded the lowest ranking within the past 10 years. In addition, while the average suicide rate in Seoul increased compared to 2019, the suicide rate in Gangdong-gu decreased by 4.4, which is significantly lower than the national average decrease (1.2 people).
