Subject Gangdong-gu Office is holding an art museum. Heal your tired heart.

"Come to the district office to appreciate the artwork."

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, has transformed into a "special art museum" for local residents. Gangdong-gu, which has been operating the hallway of the district office since March last year as an art museum "sometimes an art museum for a while, I feel nauseous," announced on the 23rd that this year's third exhibition will be held until January 9th next year.

An official from the district said, "We are operating an 'open art museum' so that residents can enjoy culture and arts near their homes without having to take time to go to an art museum far away," adding, "It is a space designed to comfort residents tired of COVID-19."

Based on the big theme, Coexistence, the district displays works on each floor of the main building of the district office under small themes such as Abstract and Initiative (2nd floor), Oriental and Western (3rd floor), Painting and Sculpture (4th floor), and Coexistence (5th floor). The district explained that the exhibition was planned to show that it is important for us to live together through the harmony of individuality and diversity of artworks.

In this exhibition, you can enjoy 50 works by 10 artists, including Koo Chae-yeon, Kim Sun-soo, Song Seung-ho, Song Ji-yeon, Oh Man-cheol, and Lee Dong-yeon, who are active in the Korean contemporary art world. The open art museum runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. For more information, call Gangdong-gu General Affairs Department (02-3425-5093). Mayor Lee Jung hun said, "This exhibition is more special because it resembles the residents of Gangdong-gu who take care of and solidarity with needy neighbors in a difficult situation due to COVID-19," adding, "I hope the open museum will be a gift-like space for hope and comfort."
