Subject Gangdong-gu Establishes a Mental Safety Net by Supporting Psychiatric Treatment Expenses

The project closed early in the first half of the year due to the increase in the number of users of "Life Respect Do Dream," a psychiatric treatment support project operated by Gangdong-gu (mayor Lee Jung hun), and the district decided to secure an additional budget on the 16th to expand the number of applicants.

Gangdong-gu's specialized project, "Life Respect Tap Dream," has been supporting psychiatric and medical expenses vouchers to reduce the economic and psychological burden and provide opportunities for recovery by providing treatment expenses to residents with high risk of depression or suicide.

Those who have no experience in psychiatric treatment or have a high risk of suicide among Gangdong-gu residents with an average monthly household income of 150% or less can apply for treatment support through the Gangdong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center.

The support items are psychiatric treatment expenses, comprehensive psychological tests, and counseling treatment expenses, and up to 250,000 won per person is supported.

In addition, high-risk suicide groups with monthly average household income of less than 150% will receive ▲ outpatient medical expenses for high-risk groups (KRW 300,000 per person, until used up) ▲ emergency treatment expenses (KRW 500,000 per session, not applicable to income standards).

The application period is until December 31 this year and may be closed early if the budget is used up.

Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office, said, "The prolonged COVID-19 is intensifying emotional isolation and increasing the number of people suffering from mental difficulties. Through this project, we will continue to support early treatment and steady management."
