Gangdong-gu (mayor Lee Jung hun) is recruiting candidates for ‘The 6th Gangdong-gu Youth Council.’

‘The 6th Gangdong-gu Youth Council’ will consist of 25 elected members through direct election and 5 proportional members. Any children and youth between the ages of 9 and 18 who are living or attending school in Gangdong-gu, and who are interested in children's rights and policies can apply.

How to apply: Download the application form and personal information provision agreement from the Gangdong-gu office website, fill out the application form, and submit by September 3, either by visiting or by registered mail, e-mail, fax, etc.

Candidates will run a campaign until October 16, the election day, after lottery drawing and election-related orientation. The results of the election will be announced on the Gangdong-gu Office website on October 18, and activities will start with the opening ceremony in November.

The 6th Youth Council members will propose children and youth policy agendas for the improvement of children's rights for one year until next October. They will review and vote on the youth budget system, plan and operate youth democracy festivals, workshops, camps, and debates related to children and youth participation in various activities.

The district official said, “It will be a good opportunity for children and youth of Gangdong-gu to engage in various governmental activities through the Youth Council and strengthen their capabilities as democratic citizens. We always try to provide a forum for communication where children and youth can freely express their opinion.”
