>Gangdong-gu, Dadok-Dadok library... a multiplex cultural space where people meet through books and cars Gangdong-gu (mayor Lee Jung hun) announced that the destrict will be receiving 20 million won from being selected for the '2021 revitalization of living and cultural facilities project' hosted by the Seoul Cultural Foundation. The project is carried out from August to December as a pilot project to intensify and expand public libraries into sustainable living and cultural platforms. Among the final 14 public libraries chosen in Seoul, “Gangdong-gu's book cafe library, Dadok-Dadok” drew attention by emphasizing its identity as an innovative communication-type community library. Unlike ordinary public libraries, it is a multiplex cultural space for people to meet through books and cars. Dadok-Dadok is planning to run its programs with the aim of establishing a cultural art based community. The support project will be conducted with three diverse programs which include: ‘Everyone reads’, ‘A village map drawn with poetry’, and ‘Singing along live Korean songs’. To help residents foster their artistic and cultural skills, various programs such as ‘invited lectures by professional instructors’ will also be organized for community revitalization. The first and second opened Dadok-Dadok, the participated in the contest, will cooperate intimately in human and physical resource exchanges and more so that residents will be able to participate easier. Lee Jung hun, the head of Gangdong-gu Office, said, “We anticipate that this project will help settle Dadok-Dadok as a friendly shelter for residents tired from the prolonged coronavirus and hope such cultural innovative space would help the community grow."
