Gangdong-gu will recruit participants in the second half of the dog socialization education program "Gangdongseodang," which is operated to solve social problems caused by the growing trend of households that have pets and create a mature pet culture that cares for neighbors.

"Gangdongseodang" is a program that has been receiving favorable reviews from residents, with prospective participants waiting for months due to Gangdong-gu's representative dog education.

It provides education about the right way to raise a dog, information on dogs, and counseling, greatly helps pets which are in conflict with their neighbors due to their problematic behavior.

From 10 a.m. on August 9th (Monday), 36 applicants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the training in the second half of this year.

The application may be made on the Education Consignment Company's website (www.clearcity.kr.) or by landline (031-481-8599).

Gangdong-gu residents shall be registered first, and those who wish to participate must do pet registration. The schedule and method of education are changable depending on the level of the Covid-19 social distancing.

Mayor Lee Jung hun said, "Because of the long time spent in the house due to the Covid-19, conflicts between neighbors caused by the behavior of dogs' problems are increasing. "We need more education on dogs than ever before," he said. "We will try to provide effective dog education with online education and minimal face-to-face education."

Meanwhile, Gangdong-gu is making efforts to create a mature pet culture by operating a street cat cafeteria, educating visiting multi-family housing pets, training dog behavior experts, and training dogs for children to adults.
