Subject Gangdong-gu operates an online trip to Mongolia called "Multicultural Notification What Country, Neighborhood Country"

Gangdong-gu, Seoul (mayor Lee Jung hun) said it will recruit families on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in overseas trips to Mongolia and "neighbor countries of multicultural communities" to promote social and economic participation of married immigrants.

Gangdong-gu will conduct a two-sympathy happiness project (multicultural notification) with the Gangdong-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center for the lower grades of elementary school (1-3th graders).

Gangdong-gu's World Tour "Story of neighboring countries and Mongolia" runs from 19:00 to 21:00 on July 28 (Wednesday), and families of elementary school students living in Gangdong-gu can apply through QR code on the Gangdong-gu Office website (Introduction of Gangdong-gu District Office) Subsequently, the selected participants will be guided by text from the Gangdong-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.

"Multicultural Notification What Country Neighboring Country" will travel to the new world every month from July to December to promote multicultural sensitivity of local communities, and Mongolia is the country to travel on July 28. Starting with the Mongolian Revolution Day, we will introduce the "Nadam Festival," Mongolia's largest folk and sports festival in Ulaanbaatar, and nomadic lifestyle.

Considering the spread of coronavirus and social distancing in the Seoul metropolitan area, participants can receive horse props and gerfuzzles as souvenirs through walking-throughs.

"Multicultural Notification What Country Neighboring Country" shall train marriage immigrants as instructors for multicultural understanding education and awareness improvement. In order to make multicultural families a healthy driver and a member of our society, the district is expanding various education and opportunities for marriage immigrants to participate in social and economic activities in cooperation with multicultural education institutions.

"I hope it will be a good opportunity to understand multiculturalism through indirect but diverse stories," said Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office. "The district will continue to help marriage immigrants settle down in the community and actively work to improve the multicultural sensitivity of Gangdong-gu residents."
