Subject Gangdong-gu District, "Find the crisis furniture first"…"Operation of intensive excavation period for welfare blind spots

Gangdong-gu "Building a tight social safety net by pre-discovering the underprivileged in welfare."

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 30th that it will strengthen regular visits to welfare targets to preemptively discover crisis households due to prolonged coronavirus.

Gangdong-gu District will visit households in accordance with the welfare target monitoring plan by forming a group of two members of the community center, welfare planners, and care managers.

Each Dong-jang, the No. 1 "Our Neighborhood Officer," patrols all over the region and regularly visits households that need to prevent solitary deaths more than once a week. To ensure that no neighbors are left out, inspections are conducted more than twice a week through resident relations networks such as welfare bank accounts, Woori neighborhood care group, and neighborhood security.

Gangdong-gu District Office plans to set it as a "welfare blind spot intensive excavation period" in summer for two months until September and to establish a tight social safety net by finding the underprivileged.

For those eligible, such as housing vulnerable households and crisis households, public support will be reviewed through welfare counseling, and if it does not meet the standards, it will be selected as an integrated case management target to support customized services. It is also planning to provide maximum support for the connection of care SOS centers and private services.

"We will continue to do our best to systematize regular on-site inspections to eliminate welfare blind spots and build a strong social safety net," said Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu Office.
