Gangdong-gu, Seoul (mayor Lee Jung hun) announced on the 29th that they will receive applications for "sleep leave" support until the 9th of next month for daycare center faculty members who have been working for a long time. The sabbatical leave system is a project targeted to support alternative teachers of childcare teachers who were unable to use their vacations freely due to concerns over child care vacancies. Applicants are designated teachers before March 1, 2016, who have currently worked at the daycare center for more than five years, and homeroom teachers who did not use sabbatical leave in 2020 can also apply. Alternative teachers can be supported up to five days during the week, and applications should be sent by August 9 by contacting the child care integrated information system or by emailing Gangdong Children's Center. Gangdong district implemented a sabbatical and emergency replacement teacher support project for the first time in Seoul last year, relieving the stress of long-term teachers at daycare centers and supporting alternative teachers in blind spots. In the previous year alone, it applied 563 days to 131 child care teachers, and the average satisfaction rate of teachers and daycare centers was 4.8 out of 5, which was considerably high. "We hope that long-term teachers in the jurisdiction will have time to recharge themselves and enjoy opportunities for self-development through the sabbatical support project," said Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office.
