Subject Gangdong-gu operates 108 additional sunshade tents on crosswalks

Gangdong-gu mayor Lee Jung hun will set up 19 additional shade screens on crosswalks and operate 108 shade screens to prevent heat damage caused by residents in summer.

This year, the district installed 19 parasols on the crosswalks around Gangdong Rebust 4, 6, 7, and 8 include 4,400 households living ▲ 5 apartments in Godeok-dong ▲ 2 in front of Sangil-dong ▲ 4 intersections in front of seonsa elementary school ▲ In front of Jukumi Alley in Seongnae-dong, ▲ Lotte Castle in Seongnae-dong.

In particular, in places where it was difficult to install shade due to the narrow width of the sidewalk, the government has prepared a plan to manufacture and install the shade by make shade specifications smaller to fit the width of the sidewalk. The district plans to establish a shade screen by identifying places that are constantly in need of installation around crosswalks along roads with a large floating population and no shade.


In addition, chairs were installed at 66 places to allow the elderly, disabled, and pregnant women to sit in the shade and rest. Shade chairs are made of wooden materials that match the city's landscape and are attached to the shade pole in a foldable form so that pedestrians do not have any inconvenience in their passage.

"We plan to continue to expand the installation of shade screens and chairs so that residents can spend the summer safely and coolly amid the record heatwave," said Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office. "We will do our best to ensure a healthy summer for residents who are exhausted from Corona 19."
