Subject Smart Farm Harvest Sharing Event in Gangdong-gu

Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District mayor Lee Jung hun) that they had packed crops that were grown and produced at Smart Farms (Plant Growers) in Sangil-dong Pharmix Center and delivered the crops to the socially vulnerable announced on the 23rd in July.

Smart Farm refers to a plant cultivator that can be installed both indoors and outdoors and can artificially control ▷ lighting ▷ humidity ▷ temperature ▷ moisture ▷ nutrients by applying IOT technology (Internet of Things). Based on accurate data on environmental information (temperature, relative humidity, light volume, carbon dioxide, soil, etc.) and growth information, precise management and prediction improve crops’ yield and quality so that it can increase profitability. In addition, costs of the production can be reduced by efficiently managing labor and energy. Crops can be grown throughout the whole year and can be remotely checked and adjusted by computer or mobile connection.

Gangdong-gu District delivered agricultural packages to the Godeok 1-dong Community Center in May and also delivered these eco-friendly agricultural packages to 25 socially vulnerable households in the district through the Sangil 1-dong Community Center on the 13th of this month. The smart farm crops which were delivered are 5.2kg of recently harvested such as ▷ Fidel ▷ Charles ▷ Red and Green Glace.

Gangdong-gu plans to continue to share its produce once a month to the vulnerable in its jurisdiction.

"We have become closer to future smart urban agriculture through sharing events for vulnerable people with agricultural products harvested from smart farms that combine new technologies," said Lee Jung hun, the head of Gangdong-gu District Office.
