Subject Gangdong-gu installs solar power speed warning system in child protection area

Gangdong-gu (Gu Mayor Lee Jung-hun), announced on the 15th of July that they had installed a solar power speed warning system that induces the deceleration of the driving speed of vehicles in two places of Godeok and Seonsa elementary school in order to create a safe walking environment for children in the child protection zone.

The solar power speed warning system is a system that measures and displays the speed of the driving vehicles in real-time. It is a traffic safety facility that induces the driver to decelerate himself by displaying a warning when the speed limit is exceeded.

The district has been installing a solar power speed warning system in child protection areas since 2015. This time, two additional locations, Godeok elementary school, and Seonsa elementary school, were added to expand the total to 23 locations in Gangdong-gu. In particular, the two new installations supplemented the safety of children by installing solar power speed warning systems in places where it was difficult to install speed cameras, thereby supplementing the sections vulnerable to safety due to the lack of speed cameras.

In addition, with the solar power speed warning system as a start, Gangdong-gu plans to ensure the safety of the children's sanctuary by additionally installing ▷LED floor traffic lights, ▷Voice guidance aids ▷Runway-type crosswalks ▷Intersection alerts. In addition, in the second half of 2021, it is planning to secure the safety of the child protection area by installing speed cameras in 14 protected areas such as Gangbit Elementary School and replacing 23 point of view signs of the child protection area with LEDs.
