Gangdong-gu, Seoul, will provide incentives for elderly people with mild dementia who have been confirmed to have been vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection to participate in the dementia support center shelter program first. The government is easing restrictions on those who have completed the coronavirus vaccination, including easing restrictions on access to senior citizen centers and allowing small gatherings. In response, Gangdong-gu also decided to provide priority to elderly people with mild dementia two weeks after completing the second vaccination. As a result, elderly people with mild dementia, who have been two weeks since completing the second vaccination, will be able to participate in the dementia support center shelter program twice a week, with around five people. It operates programs for cognitive stimulation, recall, physical training, and emotional activity, including daily life training, and applications can be made by phone (02-489-1130) and costs are free for everyone. Song Hong-ki, head of the Dementia Relief Center in Gangdong-gu, said, "There were concerns about being intensified cognitive impairment in early dementia patients due to the decrease in external activities and exchanges with people among dementia seniors who are at high risk of Covid-19 infection." As a result, we have prepared an opportunity to safely manage dementia, focusing on those who have completed the coronavirus vaccination. We will do our best to create Gangdong-gu, which is safe from dementia. The center expects to resume safer dementia management by offering incentives.
