Subject Gangdong-gu distributes the Covid-19 vaccination confirmation card

Since June 28th, Gangdong-gu has been issuing a “Covid-19 vaccination confirmation card” to vaccinated elders (ages 65 or older) that are within the jurisdiction of the district.

Currently, those who are vaccinated are given a paper document or an electronic certificate-provided by a mobile application ‘COOV’-in order to confirm the vaccination. However, paper documents are not easily portable and have the discomfort of reissuing when lost. Electronic certificates on the other hand have the problem of lacking accessibility to people who are not familiar with electronic devices, especially the elders.

Due to these reasons, Gangdong-gu has decided to distribute the “Covid-19 vaccination confirmation card” for the elder’s convenience.

Those ages 75 or older that plan to be vaccinated in Gangdong community center are immediately provided with the card after the 2nd inoculation. Those who are already vaccinated or ones who have been vaccinated at the 3rd party medical institution should visit the nearest residential community service center for the issuance.

The card lists personal information such as the name or the date of birth of the card owner, making the process of identification much easier. Also if the card is lost or damaged it could be reissued at the nearest residential community service center.

District representative states that although the card policy is not the official alternative of former vaccination certificates, there will be a discussion with public facilities regarding the validation of the card’s verification.

Lee-Junghoon, the head of Gangdong-gu district office, affirms that “The purpose of distributing the Covid-19 vaccination confirmation card is to encourage the elders that have finished their vaccination process, and by the encouragement, I believe more people would not fret being vaccinated, which contributes to accelerating the pace of bringing back the ordinary times, the days before the pandemic.”
