Subject Gangdong-gu's Operation of a shelter from the heat for the elderly

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, will operate a sweltering shelter until September 30 in preparation for the summer heat wave.
A total of 250 shelters from sweltering heat are in operation, including 17 district offices and dong community centers, 119 senior care rooms, and welfare facilities. There is also an outdoor shelter from extreme heat in the pavilion in front of the Gangdong Senior Welfare Center.
It is opened from 9 a.m. to 6p.m. on weekdays and an extended shelter is operated from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the gu office and dong community center when a heat wave warning is issued. However, the extended shelter is only open until August 31st.
Also, when a heat wave warning is issued from July 1 to August 31, a 'nighttime heat shelter' will be operated in the multi-purpose room on the first basement floor of the gu office.
In addition, we plan to provide safe accommodations to the elderly who are vulnerable in housing when a heat wave warning is issued from July 20 to August 31 by signing a business agreement with lodging establishments in the city.
You can apply for a shelter from the heat at night and safe accommodation by visiting the dong community center having jurisdiction over your address, or you can apply through a life manager or a local nurse. When you receive a confirmation from the ward office, you can visit the place where you applied with your ID.
All sweltering shelters have designated quarantine managers and are operating in strict compliance with daily quarantine rules, and it should be noted that operations may be suspended depending on social distancing steps.
mayor Lee Jung hun said, "We have prepared shelters from the heat in the dong community center and the elderly love room, which are frequently used and easily accessible by the elderly who are vulnerable to heat waves." "I hope the seniors spend a cool summer at the shelter," he said.
