Subject Gangdong resumes operation of Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru

Gangdong, Seoul, announced on the 23rd that it will resume operation of the Amsa City Regeneration Sangsangnaru, which was suspended due to the closure of multi-use facilities due to the spread of a novel coronavirus infection (Covid 19).

According to the district, the Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru (hereinafter referred to as Sangsangnaru) is a public-use facility built as part of the Amsa urban regeneration project. It consists of a multi-purpose cultural space, a cafe and exhibition space, a community center, a craft space, a shared kitchen, and a small meeting room, and any resident can freely rent through the Sangsangnaru website.

Sangsangnaru is operated by 'Amsa Urban Regeneration Social Cooperative' and Gangdong, a non-profit corporation established by local residents who grew up in urban regeneration projects. The Amsa Urban Regeneration Social Cooperative is a sustainable private enterprise selected last year as an Urban Regeneration Enterprise (CRC) in Seoul, and serves as a vitality center in Amsa that connects the public and the private sector, individuals and organizations.

Along with the resumption of this operation, lectures such as singing classes, Korean dance, line dance, disco equipment, children's cooking, watercolors, and writing were opened for residents. From last April, the Sangsangnaru Flea Market, run by the Amhaengeosa Festival (people who hang out for happiness in Amsa) composed of local residents, is being held on the last Saturday of every month.

In addition, the cafe on the 1st floor of Sangsangnaru operates a 'Shop' that displays residents' handicrafts and a 'Gallery' that displays and sells works by local artists. I am preparing a business. Participants are always recruited and the profits are returned to the community.

Jeong-hoon Lee, head of Gangdong, said, “I hope that the operation of the Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru will help residents overcome Covid Blue.” I will do it.”

You can inquire on Sangsangnaru website or by phone to apply for rental and participation in Sangsangnaru.
