Subject Gangdong-gu Resumes Operation of Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru Environment

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 23rd that it will resume the operation of Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru, which had been suspended due to the closure of multi-use facilities due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Covid-19).

According to the district, the Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru (hereinafter referred to as Sangsangnaru) is a joint facility for residents created as part of the Amsa-dong Urban Regeneration Project. It consists of a multi-purpose cultural space, cafe and exhibition space, our neighborhood Kiwoom Center, craft space, shared kitchen, and small meeting room, and anyone can freely rent it through the Sangsang Naruwa website.

Sangsangnaru is run by the Amsa Urban Regeneration Social Cooperative, a non-profit corporation established by local residents who have grown up as an urban regeneration project, and Gangdong-gu District. The Amsa Urban Regeneration Social Cooperative is a sustainable private company selected as an urban regeneration company (CRC) in Seoul last year and serves as a vital source for Amsa-dong linking the public, private, individuals and organizations.

With the resumption of operation, courses such as singing classes, Korean dance, line dance, disco janggu, children's cooking, watercolor painting, and writing were offered for residents. Since April, Sangsangnaru Market has been held on the last Saturday of every month, run by the festival planning team of secret fishermen (people who hang out for happiness in Amsa-dong).

In addition, the cafe on the first floor of Sangsangnaru is operating a "shop" that displays residents' handicrafts and a "Gallery" that displays and sells works by local artists, and is preparing various public service activities such as shared libraries and paint cans. Participants are recruited at all times and profits are returned to the community.

"We hope that the operation of Amsa Urban Regeneration Sangsangnaru will help residents overcome Corona Blue," said Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu District Office. "We will make sure that residents can use it safely, including regular disinfection."

For applications for rental and participation in Sangsangnaru, you can contact Sangsangnaru on the website or by phone.
