Gangdong-gu, Seoul (Gu mayor Lee Jung hun) is providing allowances to 50 young people who have lost their part-time job due to the Corona 19 situation but are in a blind spot where they are unable to receive unemployment benefits. In the case of young people working part-time, they are often not eligible for government support even though they are unemployed because there are no conditions such as not enrolling in employment insurance. Accordingly, Gangdong-gu provides allowances to support the life stability of unemployed young people and to promote social entry activities. As of the date of the announcement (May 17, 2021), youth aged 19 to 39 residing in Gangdong-gu are eligible for support. A young man who has been working as a part-time job for at least one month and then involuntarily unemployed from after the implementation of social distancing step 2.5 (December 8, 2020) until the day before the announcement date. The size of the application is 50, and applicants will be selected after reviewing whether the applicant meets the application requirements. Eligible applicants receive 500,000 won per month, up to 3 months, and are paid in Gangdong-gu local currency (Gangdong Bitsal Money). Applications are accepted until June 4th, and only email submissions are possible.
