Subject Do you know the 'Self-Service Stand' for Eco-friendly Agricultural Products in Gangdong-gu?

Gangdong-gu was the first district in Seoul to operate the self-service stand for eco-friendly agricultural products. The first store was opened on October 23rd, 2017 and is currently running up to the 5th store.

Under the slogan “Gangdong produces, Gangdong consumes”, the district is making efforts to revitalize local food in Gandong-gu by providing safe agricultural products harvested by 18 certified eco-friendly farms in the district.

Under the principle of “selling agricultural products harvested on the same day,” the self-service stand for eco-friendly local food directly packages, displays and sells fresh agricultural products delivered from eco-friendly certified farms without retail margin. The remained agricultural products after sale are stored in a storage room to maintain their freshness and are sold until the next morning. After that, they are collected and donated to the Gangdong Food Market for the low-income class.

The self-service stands operate from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays, and sells more than 10 kinds of agricultural products including “ssam” vegetables produced in Gangdong-gu. After choosing eco-friendly agricultural products, you can directly input the amount of money indicated on the products into the input port. However, only cash or zero pay is available.

Lee Jung-hun, the head of Gangdong-gu, said, “The self-service stand for eco-friendly local food provides the new market to farmers based on trust between producers and consumers, and supplies fresh agricultural products to residents at low prices without retail margin,” and said, “I will do my best to spread out the self-service stand for local agricultural products.”
