Subject Books on your Wish-List; Borrow from Your Local Bookstore Now!

Gangdong-gu (District Chief Lee Jung hun) has announced a "Wish-list Book Immediate Loan" service since April 23, World Book Day, with which residents can immediately borrow books they want to read from local bookstores.
Gangdong-gu established a book loan system with eight local bookstores to provide services and has completed preparations for said services.
Persons eligible for use shall be members of the Gangdong-gu Integrated Library and may borrow up to two books per person per month. You can access the Gangdong-gu Integrated Library website, designate a nearby local bookstore from the "Neighborhood Bookstore Immediate Loan" menu, and apply for a loan for a desired book, and be guided by text message.
The check-out period is 14 days after receiving the book, and you can return the book to the bookstore where you borrowed it. However, applications for books which there are already several of in the Gangdong-gu Library, and examination books, workbooks, and comic books, which are inappropriate as public library books, are restricted.
You can borrow bestsellers and newly published books, which require a lot of waiting due to its popularity, faster than before. A system borrowing wish-list books had previously been operated, but there was the downside that it would take nearly two weeks to purchase and register books in the library.
The "Wish-list Book Immediate Loan" service will reduce the waiting time to borrow books, and office workers who would usually have difficulty visiting the library will be able to borrow books they want from local bookstores instead of libraries.
"We are expanding book lending services along with the library construction project so that residents everywhere can enjoy book services anytime, anywhere," said Lee Jung hun, district chief of Gangdong-gu. "We will continue to do our best to enjoy the culture of Gangdong-gu."
