Subject Gangdong-gu District Promotion of Energy Efficiency Improvement Projects for Low-income Households

Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 25th April, 2021 that they are going to push for a "low-income energy efficiency improvement project" to support the energy which is used in environment of low-income households with the Korea Energy Foundation.

The "low-income energy efficiency improvement project" will be carried out by dividing it into two parts, cold prevention sources that supporting construction and that supporting for insulation, windows, floors and boilers, and small sized air conditioners.

Construction support will be provided at an average of 2.2 million won for each of households (up to 3 million won) and 310 thousand won each household. The full amount of aid is state funds.

Those eligible for support of this project are the basic livelihood supply and demand, the next-highest class, and low-income households in welfare blind spots. Households subject to housing benefits "self-employed" house repairs, residents owned by LH(Korea Land and Housing Corporation) and urban corporations, such as public rental, and households which are supported within two years of the same project are excluded.

Last year in 2020, the district actively discovered vulnerable groups in need of improving the energy use environment and provided 413.98 million won to 561 households as a "low-income energy efficiency improvement project."

"This year, we will be actively discovering not only existing welfare targets but also energy welfare targets in blind spots those who are hard to see from the outside to provide a pleasant residential environment so that warm winters and cool summers are possible for every single person." said Gangdong-gu District mayor Lee Jung hun.
