Subject Gangdong-gu Book Cafe Library Dadok Dadok Gobundari Market Store Branch opening

Gangdong-gu District (District mayor Lee Jung hun) will open the Book Cafe Library Dadok Dadok Gobundari Market (16 Gucheon-ro 34-gil). Gangdong-gu, which advocates "City of Books," will hold an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. on the 23rd to commemorate "World Book Day."
The book cafe library "Dadok Dadok" is a Gangdong-type complex cultural space where people meet and communicate through books and cars, as the name suggests. Unlike libraries in a quiet atmosphere, "Dadok Dadok" can also have tea, chat, and relax.

Starting with the first store (Yangjae-daero 1419, the second floor), which opened on the Gildong intersection in September last year, Gangdong-gu aims to expand 10th by the first half of 2022.
The Gobundari Market branch of the Book Cafe Library is about 228㎡ and features a reading table, a seminar room for small gatherings, and an infant zone where children can read books comfortably. The spacious and pleasant facilities are expected to attract children and 3040 young parents to the market, and will be a resting place for residents visiting the market in the future.
In addition, the book cafe library in the market will serve as a knowledge charging station for merchants with weak access to the library due to their busy daily lives, and it is good news for market merchants as they can take a break when they are tired.

There are about 2,000 books in stock, and large-letter books are also available considering that residents who mainly visit the market are elderly. There are also a number of pop-up books that will appeal to young people, including children. In addition, the hosting of book curations and various cultural programs linked to market-selling products is expected to revitalize the stagnant traditional market. Various club activities, including reading discussions, will be held to help residents relate to neighbors and share their affection within the market.
"The number of residents visiting traditional markets through book cafe libraries is also expected to increase," said Lee Jung hun, head of Gangdong-gu District. "We will thoroughly push for the establishment of a cultural foundation for residents."
