Subject Celebrating Arbor Day Ceremony to commemorate the creation of Godeok-ro Street Forest

On the occasion of the 76th Arbor Day, Gangdong-gu planted beautiful flowers on a commemorative drinking water and Gildong Crossroads Transportation Island at the Godeok-ro Street Forest Creation Site for the meaningful event of Gangdong-gu.

It also means that it will avoid the existing Arbor Day event centered on forest greening in forests and expand opportunities to create street forests and establish garden culture in downtown areas to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) crisis and heal the minds of tired residents.

Last year, the district created a classy street forest that combines nature in the lives of residents in the 2.8km section of Godeok-ro, from prehistoric intersection to E-mart intersection. As a result, the tree was planted in Godeok-ro Garo Forest and Myeongil-dong Garo Garden Creation Site to cultivate the garden culture in the city through this Arbor Day event.

First of all, the event on April 5 was held as a participatory garden creation event with citizens at the Gildong Intersection Transportation Island for 20 minutes from 11 o'clock. In order to increase residents' affection and interest in the garden culture, 2,600 copies of four types, including Osteos Pulmum, were planted with members of the Gangdong Garden Culture Forum under the direction of residents and public landscaper Park Gong-hyung.

Since then, in front of the Emart in Myeongil-dong, the construction site of the Garo Garden in Godeok-dong, the four seasons that match the street forest were held to plant trees for 63 weeks of four types, including beautiful investigation trees.
However, due to the second stage of Corona 19 life speed keeping, the two zones (Gil-dong, Myeongil-dong) were carried out with only about 40 minutes of residents each according to the ban on collecting more than 100 people.

Lee Jung hun, Mayor of Gangdong-gu District, said, "We will continue to provide more opportunities to live and practice gardening in our daily lives these days when the importance and interest in urban forests and street gardens in the city center is growing."
