Gangdong-gu (Gu Mayor Lee Jung-hun) carried out a special maintenance of illegal advertisements harmful for children through the collaboration with the volunteer corps of Outdoor Advertising Association in order to retain a safe and pleasant school walkway around the areas of 4 schools (Seongnae, Cheonho, Cheondong, and Seongil elementary school) for the new semester. Through the joint crackdown which took place on March 25th, Gangdong-gu mainly repaired old bulletin boards in danger of safety issues, obscene and decadent advertisements harmful for kids (posters and flyers), banners, billboards, and air lights that get in the way of pedestrians around the school walkway of elementary schools such as Seongnae Elementary School. The crackdown was carried out on foot patrol of 4 groups in total, with 4 people organized into 1 group due to the COVID-19. The teams focused on practical maintenance activities like getting rid of advertisements stuck on walls and flyers, especially in regions centered on Children Protection Sites which is 300m from the main entrance of the school, and the school environmental cleanup zone which is within 200m of the school boundary line. In addition to imposing fines for illegal advertisements such as banners, posters, and leaflets that are caught and collected during breakdowns, in the case of obscene and decadent advertisements, they are planning to block phone numbers as well as imposing fines. Lee Jung-hun, head of Gangdong-gu, said, “I hope that this special maintenance of illegal advertisements around school areas in the new semester will help children and teenagers have a better school life in a safe and comfortable environment. After this special maintenance, in order to prevent re-occurrences, we are planning to take the lead in eliminating illegal advertisements through continuous patrol and maintenance. |
