Gangdong-gu (District Chief Lee Jung hun) will establish an inheritance processing system for the first time as an autonomous region, taking a step forward in preventing suicides. With regard to the processing procedures for the inheritance of non-related persons, property rights such as lease deposits, bankbook deposits, and automobiles left by non-related persons shall be handled in accordance with the provisions of civil law. Therefore, if non-related persons had died, only funeral procedures were carried out in the district, and the remaining property of the deceased could not be processed, so there were often cases where the property of the deceased was owned by a third party. In particular, the big problem was that the property of those who benefited from the state, such as basic living beneficiaries, among the dead, could not be returned to the state treasury and would be owned by a third party. Accordingly, last year, the district designated a department in charge to handle the inheritance property of the deceased without association and prepared a system such as a procedure for processing inheritance property. In February this year, the death of an unrelated person occurred, and for the first time, related procedures are being carried out to deal with the inheritance property of the deceased. The deceased left about 50 million won as basic living recipient, so he collected related data and asked the prosecution office to request the appointment of an "inheritance manager" and filed the case in a family court on March 8. In the future, it will take more than a year to perform various procedures such as appointment notice of inheritance property managers, announcement of inheritance bonds, and search of heirs, and when all procedures are completed, inheritance property will be attributed to the state treasury. Lee Jung hun, head of the Gangdong-gu District Office, said, "The process of processing inherited property of the deceased is expected to be long and complicated, but we will preemptively cope with the increasing 'death alone' every year to take care of not only funeral but also follow-up management." |
