Subject Riding is the best way to rehabilitate people with severe disabilities.

Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District mayor Lee Jung hun) announced on the 26th that it will operate rehabilitation riding classes, a program for sports activities and developmental disabilities for people with severe disabilities, starting in April.

Accordingly, the district will recruit 30 participants (15 recipients and 15 non-beneficiaries) for children and adolescents with autism developmental disabilities.

According to Gangdong-gu, rehabilitation horseback riding is considered to be effective in psychological rehabilitation, such as feeling responsible for life and experiencing exchanges while in direct contact with horses, improving social skills.

Children with disabilities who had difficulty keeping their bodies properly can ride horses and perform physical rehabilitation such as posture correction and increased flexibility and balance.

Previously, the district has been at the forefront of psychological treatment and sports activities for people with developmental disabilities since 2009.

"After running the horse riding class, we surveyed the parents of children who participated in the horse riding class, and they responded that the participants had the greatest emotional rehabilitation effect," said Ryu Je-seung, head of the disabled welfare department in Gangdong-gu.

He also added, "Participant guardians had changes, such as a child who was afraid of horses when they first participated in the program, actively participating in and focusing on horseback riding."

In addition, wheelchair users had the effect of physical rehabilitation, such as increased lower body strength and gradually corrected posture during riding.

The program consists of horse-riding gymnastics, flat reports, and breaking news, which are for children and adolescents with disabilities during the growing season. It is divided into 30 minutes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday around Gangil-dong.

Subjects are intellectual, autistic, and brain lesions aged 6 to 18 who reside in Gangdong-gu area and can apply if they weigh less than 80 kilograms.

The basic living beneficiaries and the next upper class may participate free of charge by supporting the full tuition fee from the Gu. In addition, those with developmental disabilities with non-supply support can pay 50 percent of the tuition fee and pay 100,000 won a month for four weeks.

The district will recruit on a first-come, first-served basis by the 29th.

In the rehabilitation riding class, eight professionals, including five side walkers and three coaches, will participate in the rehabilitation riding class with five trained horses.

Lee Jung hun, Mayor of Gangdong-gu District, said, "Recycling riding is a rehabilitation activity that allows people with severe disabilities to receive fresh stimulation in their bodies and minds through unusual experiences."
