Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced on the 7th that it will issue Gangdong Bissal Money on the 8th to promote consumption in the jurisdiction and increase sales of small businesses.

The issuance of Gangdong Bissal Money is KRW 3 billion, and can be purchased at a 7% discount up to KRW 700,000 per month per person. It has a limit of 2 million won per person.

Gangdong Bissal money is a rechargeable prepaid card type local currency for those who have difficulty using cell phones. Residents who want to use it can visit 10 branches of Gangdong Nonghyup, 3 branches of Dong-Seoul Credit Cooperative, and 8 branches of Saemaul Treasury to purchase after completing their membership application form or downloading the "Yeah Seoul" app from their smartphones.

It can be used anywhere in registered franchises, but it cannot be used in some industries such as large discount stores and entertainment bars. Starting in March, it will also restrict the use of direct stores (including franchise stores) operated by general education institutes, movie theaters affiliated with large companies, or mid-sized companies, such as general curriculum and foreign languages, which exceed 1 billion won in annual sales.
