Subject Korea's largest electric vehicle charging station'Hyundai EV Station Gangdong'

The first electric vehicle charging station in Korea has opened.

On the 21st, Hyundai Motor Company opened the “Hyundai EV Station Gangdong,” equipped with a high-speed electric vehicle charging facility, on the site of a former SK gas station in Gil-dong, Gangdong, Seoul, and started operating in earnest.

Previously, Hyundai Motor Company and SK Networks signed a business agreement in 2017 and agreed to convert gas stations into electric vehicle charging stations.

In Gangdong, the Hyundai EV station with a gross floor area of 4066m2, there are a total of eight “high chargers”, an electric vehicle super-fast charging facility developed by Hyundai Motor Company. It is the largest ultra-fast charging facility in Korea in terms of area and facilities.

The high charger is applied with 350kW high-power and high-efficiency charging technology, which is the highest level in Korea based on output. When charging an electric vehicle with an 800V charging system, it can be charged from 10% to 80% within 18 minutes.

In particular, the high charger has a partial automation method applied to the connection line, so customers can easily connect the charging port without feeling the weight of the connection line. The dual-type charging port can also charge two electric vehicles at the same time.

Hyundai Motor Company has announced plans to install an 800V-class charging system capable of ultra-fast charging in electric vehicle models that will be released sequentially starting this year, including the Ioniq 5.

Hyundai Motor Company customers can receive benefits such as reservation of charging and payment free use of e-books or vehicle cleaning supplies while waiting for charging 23% discount on charging fees by completing vehicle authentication after signing up for the high-charger application have.

In addition, in order to revitalize the domestic electric vehicle market, Hyundai Motor Company plans to open the Hyundai EV Station Gangdong to customers using other electric vehicles and operate it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It also operates a test drive program for Hyundai Motors. Test drive is available from 10 am to 8 pm every day by reservation in advance, and you can make a reservation by phone or on the Hyundai Motor Company website.

An official of Hyundai Motor Group said, “We plan to install a total of 120 high-speed chargers in 12 highway rest areas and 8 major city centers across the country this year."
