Aya, a culture and arts cooperative in Gangdong-gu, was selected as a 'New Village Enterprise for 2018 Business Expense Support' by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. The number of village enterprises in Gangdong-gu has been increased to six to help revitalize the local economy. 'Village enterprises' is one of the social and economic enterprises that villagers solve local problems through profit-making business using local resources and contribute to regional development by creating jobs. The 'Culture and Arts Cooperative Aya' was formed in April 2017, centered on cultural and artistic artists living in Gangdong-gu. It was selected as a town corporation within a year after its foundation, and it will be supported by the project expenses of up to 50 million won this year and up to 30 million won next year. 'Aya' means an art field where children and children can play in the village. As a village theater company, it started to become a social economy company through the social economic incubation project supported by the city in 2016. Major projects have been providing customized performances and education, opportunities for local cultural artists and opportunity for residents to enjoy culture and arts. At the Gangdong-gu Social Economic Week celebration in July 2017, the company collaborated with other social and economic enterprises in the city to perform the creative family musical "Tongkogaset", and contributed 70% of proceeds to the local scholarship fund . The 'Forest of Space River', opened in November in Amsadong, is active as a space for local artists, cultural clubs, or as a community space. "The selection of this new village enterprise is a result that has been devoted to discovering and cultivating a social economic enterprise that meets the characteristics of our district since 2012." There are 110 social economic enterprises in Gangdong-gu including a village enterprise. We will actively support them to grow into a solid axis of the local economy and build a sustainable "social economic ecosystem" of Gangdong. |
